Legal notice served on RAJUK chairman, two secretaries over DAP implementation
A Supreme Court lawyer has served a legal notice on two government secretaries and the RAJUK chairman over the lack of visible progress in implementing the Detailed Area Plan (DAP) for planned urbanisation in Dhaka.
Lawyer Elias Ali Mondal sent the public interest notice via registered post on Sunday, July 12, to the Secretaries of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works and the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and the Chairman of RAJUK.
The notice said that despite the DAP being formulated and formally adopted long ago, no visible steps have been taken for its implementation, leading to unplanned and illegal constructions.
"If satisfactory action is not taken within a month, a writ petition will be filed with the High Court," the notice warned.
Elias Ali said the notice was sent to determine the current status of the plan, which was prepared at great public expense. He said the inaction has stalled smaller development projects and compounded public suffering.
