A legal notice has been served to Kushtia-3 (Sadar) Member of Parliament and Jamaat leader Amir Hamza over allegations of making defamatory and derogatory remarks against Kishoreganj-4 MP and freedom fighter Fazlur Rahman.

The notice was sent by lawyer Nurul Islam on behalf of I-Yash Imon, member secretary of the National Chhatra Shakti Kushtia district unit on Thursday (April 23). The notice requests a satisfactory explanation regarding the statements within 10 days, warning of further legal action if no response is provided.

In the 26-second viral video, Amir Hamza said, "I think keeping the crazy Faju outside will be harmful. He needs to be sent to Pabna. Those who are in Kishoreganj, please arrest him and send him to Pabna. If necessary, give him a lethal injection."

The notice states that Amir Hamza has repeatedly made defamatory statements about the freedom fighter in public and on social media, damaging his reputation. It further alleges that by labeling a sitting MP in such terms and suggesting psychiatric treatment, his dignity has been severely undermined, causing social, mental, and financial harm.

Speaking about the matter, complainant I-Yash Imon said he respects Fazlur Rahman as a freedom fighter and believes such remarks against him are unacceptable, which prompted the legal notice.

Earlier, Amir Hamza had also received multiple legal notices from different individuals over separate controversial remarks, including allegations about corruption related to medical college operations and comments about the cost of posting administrative officials in Kushtia.

In a separate development, a defamation case has already led to an arrest warrant being issued against him by a court in Sirajganj over earlier remarks involving the power and energy minister.
