Light rain likely in Dhaka today

Light rain and cloudy skies are expected to bring some relief from the recent heat in the capital today, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The Met Office forecasts partly to temporarily cloudy conditions over Dhaka and surrounding areas during the morning hours, with a chance of light rainfall accompanied by gentle winds from the south and southeast at speeds of 8 to 12 km/h. These conditions may help lower daytime temperatures slightly.

At 6:00am today, Dhaka recorded a temperature of 29.0°C with humidity at 83 percent. Yesterday’s maximum temperature in the capital was 36.0°C, while the minimum was 28.8°C. No rainfall was recorded in Dhaka over the past 24 hours.

Nationwide, the Met Office has forecast rain and thundershowers with temporary gusty winds in several divisions over the next five days. Light to moderate rain is likely in parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, while isolated areas in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions may also experience brief showers by 6:00pm today.

Additionally, some regions could experience moderate to heavy rainfall. Despite the rain, no significant change in overall temperature is expected across the country during this period.
