Low pressure turns into land depression, maritime ports hoist signal No 3

The well-marked low pressure over the West Bengal-Bangladesh coast and the adjoining northwestern Bay of Bengal has intensified into a land depression. It is currently located over the West Bengal coast and adjoining areas.

The Met Office issued the forecast on Thursday, August 13.

The Met Office said the land depression may move further northwest. Under its influence, squally winds are likely to blow over maritime ports, the North Bay and Bangladesh's coastal areas.

In this situation, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal No 3.

Additionally, fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.

Considering the weather conditions, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the deep sea and to remain vigilant.
