Mahmudul Hasan appointed Administrator of DSCC

The government has removed Md. Shahjahan Mia, Administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), on October 29. In his place, Md. Mahmudul Hasan, Director General of the Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Inspection Wing under the Local Government Division, has been appointed as the new administrator.

An official notification signed by Mahbuba Irene, Joint Secretary of the City Corporation-1 branch of the Local Government Division, was issued on November 3, confirming the appointment.

The notification stated that the newly appointed administrator would exercise the powers and perform the duties of the Mayor of DSCC under Section 25(K), Sub-section (3) of the Local Government (City Corporation) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024. He will carry out these duties in addition to his regular responsibilities and will be entitled to an allowance as per government rules.

Earlier, on October 29, the Local Government Division removed Md. Shahjahan Mia from the post of Administrator of DSCC. However, no reason for his removal was disclosed.
