Main Eid-ul-Azha congregation held at National Eidgah in Dhaka

The main congregation of the holy Eid-ul-Azha was held at the National Eidgah in the capital with the participation of the country’s top leaders, senior officials and thousands of devotees on Thursday morning.

The Eid jamaat began at 7:30am at the National Eidgah adjacent to the High Court area.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam, cabinet members, politicians, government officials and people from different walks of life joined the congregation.

Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Mufti Maulana Mohammad Malek, led the prayers and delivered the khutba. Special prayers were offered at 7:51am seeking peace, prosperity and welfare for the nation.

During the munajat, prayers were offered for Muslims facing oppression and persecution in different parts of the world. Worshippers also prayed for the values of sacrifice, restraint and humanity embodied in Eid-ul-Azha to be reflected in individual and social life.

A festive atmosphere prevailed in and around the Eidgah from early morning as devotees started arriving after dawn. Many attended the prayers with family members, friends and colleagues.
Authorities allowed worshippers to enter the venue after security screening through designated gates.

Arrangements were made for nearly 35,000 worshippers to offer prayers simultaneously under the main pavilion of the National Eidgah. Separate entry routes and seating arrangements were kept for state guests, general devotees and women.
Facilities including ablution points, drinking water, toilets and medical services were also provided at the venue.

After the prayers, the President, Prime Minister and other worshippers exchanged Eid greetings.
Members of law enforcement agencies were deployed in and around the National Eidgah to enqsure security during the congregation.
