Main entrance of Parliament named ‘General MAG Osmani Gate’
The main entrance of the National Parliament has been named after General M.A.G. Osmani, the chief commander of the Liberation War. The 'General M.A.G. Osmani Gate' nameplate was installed at this entrance of the Parliament House on Wednesday night (April 15).
Nahid Parvez, Executive Engineer of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Division 1 of the Public Works Department, told the media that the nameplate was installed at the gate on the instructions of the Parliament Secretariat on Wednesday night.
The 'General M.A.G. Osmani Gate' nameplate, written in white letters on a large maroon-colored nameplate, has been installed at the entrance of the Parliament House, through which members of parliament mainly travel.
There is a security check system in front of the gate. There are turnstiles, scanning points and signboards with instructions for entry only for members of parliament. Another instruction regarding meeting and displaying guest cards is also posted inside.
MAG Osmani was the commander-in-chief of the Bangladesh Armed Forces and the Liberation Army during the Liberation War. He was given this responsibility under the government-in-exile formed on April 11, 1971. After independence, he was promoted to the rank of general.
