Major reshuffle in four miniministries
The government has appointed new secretaries to four ministries as part of a reshuffle in the senior civil administration.
The changes affect the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Energy and Mineral Resources Division, and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued separate notifications on Thursday announcing the appointments.
According to the notifications, Md. Obaidur Rahman, an attached secretary at the Ministry of Public Administration, has been appointed secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works. He previously served as secretary of the Ministry of Industries and will replace Md. Nazrul Islam, who recently retired.
Jesmin Nahar, an additional secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, has been promoted to secretary and appointed secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
The outgoing secretary of the ministry, Md. Sakhawat Hossain, has been attached to the Ministry of Public Administration.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Saiful Islam, secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, has been transferred and appointed secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
At the same time, Md. Mahbubur Rahman, an additional secretary, has been promoted to secretary and appointed secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.
The Ministry of Public Administration said the reshuffle was aimed at making government administration more dynamic and effective.
According to the notifications, the officials will assume their new responsibilities immediately.
