Makshudur Rahman resigns from National Pay Commission

Professor Md. Makshudur Rahman, part-time member of the National Pay Commission, has resigned, citing the omission of the sub-committee’s recommendations in the final report as the reason.

He announced his resignation at an urgent press briefing on Thursday (January 15) at the Registrar’s Building of Dhaka University.

Rahman said, “A four-member sub-committee was formed to draft specific recommendations for all public universities. The committee submitted 33 proposals to the Commission, but these were not included in the final report. Hence, I decided to resign.”

He urged the government and the Commission to implement the sub-committee’s proposals to improve the quality of higher education.
