Malaysian PM congratulates Tarique Rahman over phone

Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim congratulated Bangladesh’s newly appointed Prime Minister Tarique Rahman over the telephone.

The phone call between the two heads of government took place at 3 pm on Friday, February 20, according to the media cell of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

During the conversation, Anwar Ibrahim congratulated Bangladesh’s new government and expressed his commitment to strengthening the existing bilateral relations between Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur.

He also highlighted Malaysia as a key partner in Bangladesh’s path towards economic development and prosperity. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, in turn, pledged to work jointly on matters of mutual interest and elevate the fraternal ties between the two countries to new heights.

Earlier, the newly appointed Prime Minister of Bangladesh had received congratulations from heads of state including the President of the United States, the Prime Minister of India, and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, among others worldwide.
