Manzil Murshed seeks Canada's cooperation for expatriate tribunal in Bangladesh

Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB) President Senior Advocate Manzil Morshed held a meeting with high-level representatives of the Canadian government, including ministers and members of parliament, at Canada's federal parliament, Parliament Hill, in Ottawa yesterday.

During the meeting, he exchanged views with Safkat Ali, Senior Member of Parliament and Chief of Canada's Treasury Bench holding minister rank, MP Salma Zahid and MP Yasir Naghvid. He was accompanied by HRPB Canada branch Chief Adviser Alimul Haidari Babu, organisation Vice President Shahid Uddin Hiru and others.

During the exchange of views, HRPB President Advocate Manzil Morshed highlighted the need for forming an expatriate tribunal in Bangladesh to quickly resolve various problems faced by expatriate Bangladeshis living in Canada regarding their property, business and trade and other matters in Bangladesh, and to protect their rights. He also discussed cooperation from the Canadian government in this regard.

During the exchange, the Canadian members of parliament also described the demand for forming an expatriate tribunal as timely and positive for taking prompt action to ensure legal protection for Bangladeshi expatriates living in Canada.

They assured of the Canadian government's cooperation and support in this regard.
