The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a special bulletin advising all maritime ports—Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra—to keep Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 hoisted as severe cyclonic storm 'Arnab' intensifies over the Westcentral Bay and adjoining areas.

Early this morning, 'Arnab' advanced west-northwest and strengthened into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm.

The storm was positioned around 990 km southwest of Chattogram, 945 km southwest of Cox's Bazar, and 865 km south of both Mongla and Payra.

Maximum sustained winds within 64 km of the storm center have reached approximately 118 km/h, with gusts up to 150 km/h, prompting warnings of very high seas in affected marine zones.
The authorities have urged all fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay to stay close to the coast and proceed with utmost caution until further notice due to the rapidly deteriorating sea conditions.

The cyclone is projected to move further towards the Andhra Pradesh coast, potentially escalating risks for coastal activities and navigation.

Government agencies, local authorities, and maritime personnel are closely monitoring the development of Cyclone 'Arnab,' preparing for swift action as necessary, and advising the public to remain vigilant and follow further official updates.
