Sharif Osman Hadi laid to rest beside the national poet
Sharif Osman bin Hadi, a frontline leader of the July uprising and convener of Inquilab Mancha, has been laid to eternal rest.
He was buried beside the grave of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at the Dhaka University Central Mosque premises at around 3:15 pm on Saturday, December 20.
Earlier, the funeral prayers of martyred Osman Hadi were held at 2:30 pm on Saturday at the South Plaza of the National Parliament House on Manik Mia Avenue, with the participation of hundreds of thousands of people. The prayers were led by his elder brother, Abu Bakar Siddique.
Many of those present at the funeral and viewers watching the programme on television were overcome with emotion. After the prayers, Hadi’s body was taken to the Dhaka University area.
With the burial of martyred Osman Hadi, the nation witnessed an emotional farewell in the country’s political and social spheres.
