Mask of a particular party exposed: Mirza Abbas
BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas has said the attack on Hadi should not be seen as an isolated incident, but rather a small part of a larger conspiracy, carried out in a planned manner.
He said they want the truth to come out and the mask of a particular political party to be exposed.
Mirza Abbas made the remarks on Saturday, December 13, while speaking as the chief guest at a rally ahead of a protest march in Nayapaltan, organised in protest against the attack on BNP candidate for Chattogram-8 Ershad Ullah and Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
After the rally, a protest march started from Nayapaltan, circled Nightingale Mor and ended back at Nayapaltan.
Strongly condemning the attack on Hadi, Mirza Abbas said that after 17 years of struggle, they have regained the freedom to speak. “Hadi is like my own son. After hearing about the attack, I was mentally shattered. I believe this attack was not just on Hadi, but on Bangladesh’s democracy and freedom. We must therefore build resistance against dark forces,” he said.
Raising a question, he said that one hour after the attack, a group posted on Facebook saying, “Come out wherever you are.” This, he said, indicates the attack was planned.
He further alleged that those who raised aggressive slogans at the hospital were activists of a particular party and behaved extremely rudely.
He said that had he given instructions, his activists could have retaliated fiercely. “The mob creators wanted Hadi to die, while we want him to survive. That is why I urged our activists to remain patient,” he said, adding that the character of that group had been seen in 1971 and 1947.
Referring to his cordial relations with rival candidates in past elections, Mirza Abbas said that whenever Hadi sought cooperation, he would extend it. “We want him to return to the election. He is not my enemy, but my competitor. Earlier there was one enemy, now Bangladesh is trapped by multi-dimensional enemies,” he said, urging vigilance against conspirators.
