Reports of mass gathering at Dhaka University entrances has been filed as vote counting in the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) elections are underway.

Although the identities of the people standing at various entrances of the university have not been confirmed, Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir activists have made counter-allegations that they are political party leaders and activists.

Chhatra Dal's DUCSU VP candidate Abidul Islam Khan claimed that Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists have taken 'organized positions' in Nilkhet, Shahbagh, and Chankharpul.

On the other hand, Shibir panel GS candidate SM Farhad alleged that Jubo Dal and BNP leaders and activists have gathered at nine points.

Eyewitnesses said that the gathering of people at the entrances started increasing since Tuesday afternoon after the voting ended. Initially, law enforcement officers tried to remove them, but as the congestion increased, law enforcement personnel were also seen increasing force in the evening.

People were seen standing outside almost all the entrances including Shahbagh and Nilkhet points. They said that they had gathered to know the results of the vote.

When contacted, Shahbagh Police Station OC Md. Khalid Mansur said that sufficient police personnel have been deployed at the entrances of the university. They are on alert.

In this regard, DU Vice-Chancellor Niaz Ahmed Khan said that he has received information about the gathering of people at various entrances of the university since 4 pm and has spoken to members of the law enforcement agencies to strengthen security.
