Md Abdul Mannan appointed new Petrobangla chairman

Md Abdul Mannan, additional secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, has been appointed as chairman of Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla). He had been serving as chairman of the corporation in an additional capacity until now.

A notification to this effect was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration's Deputation-1 branch on Monday, September 7. It stated that Md Abdul Mannan had been transferred and appointed as chairman of Petrobangla on deputation.

The notification said the order, issued in the public interest, would take immediate effect. As a result, Abdul Mannan's tenure as chairman of Petrobangla is now on a regular basis.

Abdul Mannan, currently serving as additional secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, had been holding the additional charge of Petrobangla chairman since May 17. He had been involved in the corporation's regular activities since then.

With this regular appointment, he will now lead the corporation on a permanent basis rather than in an additional capacity. His appointment as chairman of this key state-owned corporation in the energy and mineral resources sector has taken immediate effect.
