Measles claims 6 more children, death toll rises to 908

Six more children have died from complications related to measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 1,101 new cases of measles or measles-like symptoms were reported.

According to the measles report published by the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday, a total of 908 children have died since March 15 from measles or complications arising from measles-like symptoms.

Of the total, 809 children died with measles symptoms, while 99 more died after testing positive for the virus.

From March 15 to August 16, the number of suspected measles cases has crossed 1.42 lakh, with nearly 18,000 confirmed through testing. In the last 24 hours, 1,101 new patients were recorded.

Health authorities are focusing on early detection, treatment and adherence to health protocols, urging parents to seek medical advice immediately if children show measles symptoms.
