Measles death toll reaches 613 as three more children die in 24 hours
Three more children have died of measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours. During this period, 915 children across the country have shown measles-like symptoms. None of the deceased were confirmed to have measles. The information was released in a measles update report by the Directorate General of Health Services on Saturday, June 6.
According to the report, two children died in Dhaka and one in Sylhet due to measles-like symptoms. Since March 15, a total of 522 children have died from suspected measles. In the same period, 91 children have died after being confirmed with measles. The total death toll has now reached 613.
DGHS data shows that 77,791 children have shown measles-like symptoms since March 15. A total of 63,134 children have been hospitalised with suspected measles symptoms during this period, of whom 58,964 have recovered and returned home. The number of confirmed measles cases since March 15 now stands at 9,620.
