Measles death toll reaches 731 as two more children die in 24 hours
Two more children have died with measles symptoms in the country over the last 24 hours. During this period, 833 new children have been infected with measles or measles-like symptoms.
The information was released in the updated measles report by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday afternoon, July 4, for the 24-hour period ending at 8:00 am.
According to the report, two children died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, but no deaths from confirmed measles were recorded.
Since March 15, a total of 638 children have died with measles symptoms across the country, while 93 children have died from confirmed measles. The combined death toll from measles and measles-like symptoms now stands at 731.
In the last 24 hours, 101 children were confirmed to have measles, while 732 were infected with suspected measles symptoms.
During this period, 704 new children were admitted to hospitals, while 675 were discharged.
According to the health directorate's data, a total of 1,04,693 suspected measles patients have been identified since March 15, with 12,526 confirmed cases. Among them, 87,966 patients have been hospitalised, of whom 84,218 have recovered and returned home.
