Measles death toll reaches 738 as seven more children die

Seven more children have died with measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, while 1,031 new cases have been reported during the same period, according to the regular measles report published by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday, July 5.

According to the report, a total of 645 children have died with measles symptoms since March 15, while 93 children have died from confirmed measles. The combined death toll from measles and measles-like symptoms now stands at 738.

In the last 24 hours, 106 children were confirmed to have measles, while 925 were infected with suspected measles symptoms. During this period, 878 new children were admitted to hospitals, while 904 were discharged.

According to the health directorate's data, a total of 1,05,618 suspected measles patients have been identified since March 15, with 12,632 confirmed cases. Among them, 88,844 patients have been hospitalised, of whom 85,122 have recovered and returned home.
