Measles outbreak: Four more die nationwide in 24 hours
Four more deaths linked to suspected measles were reported across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In a statement issued Saturday (May 2), the DGHS said 1,024 new suspected cases were recorded during the same period. The cumulative number of suspected cases has reached 39,325 between March 15 and May 2.
The agency reported 72 confirmed measles cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total confirmed infections to 5,218 over the period.
Since March 15, a total of 26,911 suspected patients have been hospitalised, while 23,225 have recovered and been discharged.
No deaths from confirmed measles were recorded in the past 24 hours. However, the total number of confirmed measles-related deaths stands at 49.
Including the latest fatalities, the death toll from suspected measles has risen to 235 nationwide, the DGHS said.
