Measles outbreak: Three more children die in 24 hours
In the 24 hours leading up to Monday morning, April 20, at 8:00 am, two children have died from measles-like symptoms and one child from confirmed measles. This brings the total number of deaths from confirmed measles since March 15 to 37, while the total number of deaths from measles-like symptoms has reached 183.
The information was provided in an updated measles report from the Directorate General of Health Services on Monday. During this period, 174 children were infected with measles, and 846 children were admitted to hospitals.
According to the health directorate, the child death from confirmed measles in the last 24 hours occurred in Dhaka division. The deaths from measles-like symptoms occurred in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions.
The health directorate reported that 1,170 children across the country showed measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours. Among them, 846 children were hospitalised, of which 382 were from Dhaka division. During this period, 862 children admitted with measles-like symptoms were discharged from hospitals, including 370 from Dhaka division.
According to the health directorate's report, a total of 24,776 children have shown measles-like symptoms since March 15. Of them, 16,172 children have been hospitalised, measles has been confirmed in 3,617 children, and 13,258 patients have been discharged.
