Five more people have died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, while another 1,025 people were identified with confirmed measles or measles-like symptoms, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The latest figures, released by the DGHS on Thursday (August 13), put the combined number of deaths from confirmed measles and suspected measles cases at 890 since March 15.

Of the newly identified patients, 74 tested positive for measles, while 951 sought medical treatment with measles-like symptoms, the DGHS said.

According to the health directorate, 791 people have died with suspected measles symptoms since March 15, while laboratory-confirmed measles has been linked to another 99 deaths.

The outbreak has also produced a large number of suspected cases. From March 15 through Thursday, 140,076 people had been identified as suspected measles patients, while 17,543 cases had been confirmed through testing.

The latest figures underscore the continuing health concern as authorities monitor measles infections and suspected cases across the country.
