A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying 262 passengers was stranded in Rome on Sunday due to a mechanical fault. The airline is sending spare parts from London to repair the aircraft.

According to ABM Rawshan Kabir, General Manager of Public Relations at Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the issue involves the wing flap of flight BG 356, which was scheduled to depart from Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino Airport at 7:20 pm local time, heading to Dhaka.

“The flight was canceled after the wing flap malfunctioned. Passengers have been provided accommodation at nearby hotels,” Kabir said.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner remains grounded as the necessary spare parts are expected to arrive from London by Monday evening, Bangladesh time. Once repairs are complete, the same aircraft will be used to return the passengers to Dhaka.

No alternative flights have been arranged. Passengers and crew will stay at the hotel until the issue is resolved.
