Nurun Nessa Siddiqua, Secretary of the Central Women's Wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has said that women cannot become the Ameer of Jamaat. We are an Islamic party. Actually, men are the guardians of women—we entered politics accepting this.

She made these remarks on Sunday after a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner at the Election Building in Agargaon, the capital.

On this day, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin held a meeting for the first time with four important representatives of the party's women's wing.

The leaders of women's Jamaat sat in a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner at the Election Building in Agargaon, the capital, around 3:30 PM. In the hour-long meeting, they presented various complaints to the CEC.

The meeting was attended by Nurun Nessa Siddiqua, Secretary of Jamaat's Women's Wing, Assistant Secretary Saida Rumman, Member Marzia Begum, and Dr Habiba Chowdhury Sweet.

Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer, Assistant Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami, and Oliullah Noman, member of the party's Election Steering Committee, were present at the meeting.

After the meeting, Nurun Nessa Siddiqua said, "The notion that women's development will occur only if women are in top positions is not correct. Previously, the country had two women Prime Ministers, but the desired development of women did not happen. Jamaat-e-Islami believes in women's development and empowerment."

Jamaat's women leader Habiba Chowdhury Sweet said, "We are fielding women candidates in local government elections—this is proven. In future, women will come to important positions in Jamaat. Subsequently, women will also directly contest in parliamentary elections."

After the meeting, Jamaat's women leaders complained that their women workers are facing attacks and threats in various places whilst going for election campaigns. When they go for election campaigning, a group of people are intimidating them. They are also victims of cyber bullying. Legal preparations have been taken under the Cyber Security Act regarding this matter.
