Mesut Ozil attends programme at DU
World Cup-winning German footballer Mesut Ozil visited the Dhaka University campus today (18 February) to inaugurate a new project at the university's Shahid Mohammad Murtoza Medical Centre.
As of filing this report at 3:34pm, Ozil was present at the Medical Centre, sources said.
Minhaj Uddin, health affairs secretary of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu), confirmed the matter.
Turkish development agency, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (Tika,) has been assisting the university administration in several development works at the medical centre. Ozil's visit to the campus is primarily linked to the inauguration of the project.
Also present at the programme were Bilal Erdogan, son of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan; Ramiz Sen, the Ambassador of Turkey to Bangladesh; and Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, among others.
Minhaj said Mesut Ozil is scheduled to attend an iftar at a Rohingya camp tomorrow (February 19).
