Milestone student Tasnia succumbs to burn injuries after 33-day fight

Tasnia (15), a student of Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, who was critically injured in an air force plane crash, has died. After fighting for her life for 33 days, she passed away at 7:55am on Saturday (August 23) in the ICU of the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.

Tasnia, from Madhukhali Upazila in Faridpur, was a class VIII student at Milestone School and College.

Dr. Shawon Bin Rahman, residential surgeon at the National Burn Institute, said, “Following the plane crash in Diyabari on July 21, Tasnia was admitted to the hospital in critical condition with burns over 37% of her body. Despite extensive treatment, she could not be saved.”

Earlier, the Ministry of Health reported that 35 people had died in the tragic accident. Tasnia’s death brings the total number of victims to 36, the majority of whom were children.
