Ministry considering proposal for new police station in capital's Rayerbazar
Dhaka Metropolitan Police has proposed establishing a new police station named Rayerbazar in the capital. DMP Acting Commissioner Md Sarwar said the proposal is currently under consideration by the relevant ministry.
Speaking at a press conference at the DMP Media Centre on Sunday, May 3, the DMP commissioner said a new police station in the Rayerbazar area has been proposed to better control the law and order situation and facilitate public service, as crime rates centred around Mohammadpur have increased. If approved, police activities in the area will be expanded.
He further informed that two police camps have already been set up in Bosila and Kawran Bazar areas. Crime-prone areas are being identified, and CCTV cameras are being installed there, with more cameras to be installed in the future.
The DMP commissioner said the use of technology is being increased to control crime and ensure security. Steps have been taken to install CCTV cameras in important and vulnerable areas of the capital.
He also said strict action will be taken against those who leak information about ongoing police operations. Additionally, he noted that opportunities for extortion have significantly decreased with the marking of boundaries on footpaths.
The DMP commissioner said police are working tirelessly to make the capital safer and crime-free, and cooperation from all relevant organisations is needed to achieve this goal.
