The National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary has said that BNP leader Mirza Abbas has lost more elections than he has won. Patwary made the remarks while speaking to reporters outside the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner’s office on Saturday (January 2). “If you check the data, his record of defeats exceeds his victories. This time, Shapla Koli will win,” he said. He also criticised major political parties for staging large-scale showdowns following the announcement of the election schedule, calling it unacceptable. Patwary demanded the resignation of the Election Commission, asserting that it should feel shame over the current situation.

জাতীয় নাগরিক পার্টির (এনসিপি) মুখ্য সমন্বয়ক নাসীরুদ্দিন পাটওয়ারী বলেছেন, ‘মির্জা আব্বাসের জয়ের চেয়ে হারার রেকর্ডই বেশি।’ শনিবার (২ জানুয়ারি) ঢাকা বিভাগীয় কমিশনারের কার্যালয় থেকে বেরিয়ে সাংবাদিকদের সঙ্গে আলাপকালে তিনি এ মন্তব্য করেন। নাসীরুদ্দিন পাটওয়ারী বলেন, আপনি একটু ডেটা ক্যাল্কুলেশন করে দেখবেন। ওনার জয়ের চেয়ে হারার রেকর্ডই বেশি। সো এবার শাপলা কলি জয়ী হবে। তিনি আরও বলেন, তফসিল ঘোষণার পর রাজনৈতিক দলগুলো যেভাবে বড় ধরনের শোডাউন করছে, তা গ্রহণযোগ্য নয়। এ পরিস্থিতিতে নির্বাচন কমিশনের লজ্জা ও শরম থাকা উচিত। তিনি নির্বাচন কমিশনের পদত্যাগ দাবি করেন।
