Mirza Abbas returning home today

BNP Standing Committee member and Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Mirza Abbas is set to return home on Wednesday (September 2) after nearly five months of medical treatment in Singapore and Malaysia.

The flight carrying the BNP leader is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 9pm, BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed.

He said Abbas’s health has improved significantly following treatment and that he decided to return home on the advice of his medical board.

Abbas suddenly lost consciousness while drinking water during iftar on March 11. He was initially admitted to a hospital in Dhaka after his condition deteriorated. Four days later, he was flown to Singapore by air ambulance for advanced treatment before subsequently receiving medical care in Malaysia.

Abbas was elected a member of parliament from the Dhaka-8 constituency in the 13th parliamentary election. His return after a prolonged stay abroad for medical treatment is being closely watched in BNP political circles.
