BNP Standing Committee member, Prime Minister's Adviser, and Dhaka-8 lawmaker Mirza Abbas has shown significant improvement in his health, according to Advocate Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, adviser to the BNP chairman.

Alal made the comments on Saturday (July 4) after meeting with Mirza Abbas and his wife Afroza Abbas in Malaysia, where Abbas has been undergoing treatment.

He said Abbas is doing considerably better than before, and that Abbas has sought prayers from the people of Bangladesh for his speedy recovery and return home.

The update follows an earlier statement on June 29 from BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan, who said Abbas has been undergoing regular therapy on doctors' advice. Following his therapy sessions, Abbas has also been walking and doing light physical exercises with his wife.

Abbas is currently receiving leg therapy at the Pusat Rehabilitasi Neuro-Robotics and Cybernics Kebangsaan PERKESO Centre in Malaysia. Doctors have advised him to continue his regular therapy, walking, and exercise regimen.

Abbas fell suddenly ill during iftar on March 11 this year and underwent brain surgery at Evercare Hospital in the capital. He was flown to Singapore by air ambulance on March 15 for advanced treatment. After his condition improved there, doctors recommended transferring him to Malaysia for physiotherapy.
