Plans to take Mirza Abbas abroad to Singapore for advanced treatment have been temporarily suspended, as his current condition is deemed unsuitable for travel.

BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam said the family remains confident in treatment available in Bangladesh, though the option of overseas care may be considered later if recommended by the medical board.

Dr Rafiqul confirmed that a virtual medical board convened on Friday reviewed all reports and approved the brain surgery, which was subsequently completed. Abbas is now in the ICU under close observation.

Earlier, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited Abbas at Evercare Hospital Dhaka, where medical board members briefed him on the latest updates regarding his treatment.

Abbas fell ill and lost consciousness during iftar on Wednesday and was admitted to Evercare Hospital. His family has sought prayers from the public for his speedy recovery.
