Mirza Fakhrul denied bail
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's bail plea has been rejected by the court in the case filed by the police regarding the attack on the Chief Justice's residence.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury rejected the bail application after the court hearing on Thursday (February 1).
Senior Supreme Court lawyer Syed Zainul Abedin conducted the bail hearing on behalf of Mirza Fakhrul. It was opposed by the state. After hearing both parties, the court rejected the remand request. Mirza Fakhrul's lawyer Syed Zainul Abedin Mejbah confirmed the matter to the reporters.
On October 28, vandalism was carried out at the residence of the Chief Justice in connection with the mass rally of BNP. A case was filed against Mirza Fakhrul and 59 BNP leaders and activists in Ramna police station. Later on October 29, Mirza Fakhrul was arrested by the detective police. Since then he has been in prison.
