Mirza Fakhrul dissatisfied with WASA water quality

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed his dissatisfaction with the quality of WASA water in the capital. At the same time, he stressed the importance of a long-term plan to address the safe water crisis.

He made the observation at a discussion to mark the World Water Day in Kakrail on Tuesday (April 28).

He said, "I feel very sad when I hear about the worse quality of WASA water."

Mirza Fakhrul said that safe water crisis in the capital has now become a big challenge. Even the water quality of the Parliament building has been questioned.

He said, "New plans to be taken to ensure safe water supply to the people of the country." At the same time, he emphasized on taking effective steps to prevent river pollution.

The minister also said, "We are paid by the people so priority should be given to solving the basic problems of the people."

Emphasizing the use of alternative sources of water, he said, "We need to gradually reduce our dependence on groundwater and get used to using surface water. In this regard, rainwater conservation can be an important initiative."

He also said that the crisis of safe water is increasing around the world and there is a risk of major global conflicts over water in the future.
