Mirza Fakhrul leaves for China on CPC invitation

BNP Secretary General and LGRD and Co-operatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has departed for China on an official visit at the invitation of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

He left Dhaka at 10:15pm on Sunday (April 18) aboard a China Airlines flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, according to BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan.

Fakhrul is accompanied by his personal assistant, Yunus Ali.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen saw him off at the airport.

Fakhrul is expected to join a 19-member high-level BNP delegation already in Beijing on a visit organised by the CPC. He will lead the delegation during the remainder of the trip.

During the visit, the BNP delegation is scheduled to hold a formal meeting with Liu Jianchao, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

The visit comes amid ongoing efforts to strengthen political and diplomatic engagement between the two sides.
