Misti meets Speaker, says 'let there be an investigation'
Reserved women's seat MP Ferdousi Ahmed Misti has met National Parliament Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed. She left the parliament building after about a five-minute discussion with the Speaker around 1:45pm on Thursday.
After the meeting, when journalists asked what was discussed inside, Ferdousi Ahmed Misti said, "I came to talk to the Speaker, and I talked."
At that time, when journalists asked whether she had resigned, she left quickly without answering. Later, while getting into her car, when journalists asked about the matter again, she said, "The Speaker called me, I met him."
Asked about resignation, she said, "Let there be an investigation." In response to a question on whether she had submitted a resignation letter, she said, "Whatever BNP decides will happen."
No official statement has yet been received from the Speaker's office on the matter.
Earlier, BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman directed Ferdousi Ahmed Misti to resign from her MP post. Prime Minister's Press Secretary Saleh Shiblee confirmed the information to BBC Bangla on Thursday.
Yesterday, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed told journalists regarding the vandalism at Radda Clinic in Dhaka's Mirpur that an investigation is underway into the Radda Clinic incident. Negligence in the duties of a police officer has been found, and he was immediately withdrawn. Departmental proceedings have been started against him.
He said, "There is no political involvement there. Some of those who went there may have political identities. But we will never take that into consideration. They have been arrested and legal action is being taken against them. Whether an MP was involved there is under investigation."
Earlier, allegations of her involvement were raised in various media in the attack, looting and vandalism at the Radda MCH-FP Centre in the capital's Mirpur.
Ferdousi is one of 36 lawmakers elected to parliament from women's reserved seats allocated to the BNP-led alliance. She took oath along with other reserved seat MPs on May 3 this year.
