National Parliament's women's seat no. 23 has been declared vacant due to the resignation of reserved women's seat MP Ferdousi Ahmed Misti.

The information was conveyed in a notice published by the Legislation Branch-2 of the Parliament Secretariat's Legislative Support Wing on Thursday, October 1.

The notice said that as reserved women's seat MP Ferdousi Ahmed resigned on October 1, 2026, seat no. 323 (women's seat-23) of parliament became vacant on that date under Article 67(2) of the Constitution.

Earlier, Ferdousi Ahmed Misti submitted her resignation letter to the Speaker on Thursday noon on the instructions of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

It may be mentioned that Misti's name came up last Thursday in the incident of demolition, vandalism and looting at the Radda MCH-FP Centre in the capital's Mirpur.

Allegations of involvement of leaders and activists at various levels of the ruling party also emerged in the incident. Following this, the head of government directed Misti to resign from her MP post.
