BNP Standing Committee member and Dhaka-8 candidate Mirza Abbas warned against “mobocracy,” saying it has no place in Dhaka-8, emphasising that he has not engaged in any wrongdoing during the election campaign.

Speaking with locals in Nayapaltan around midday on Wednesday (January 14), Abbas also raised concerns over discrepancies on the ballot paper, calling them “deliberate” and urging the Election Commission to correct them promptly.

He highlighted that the BNP is focusing on direct engagement with voters rather than formal campaign events.

Responding to recent remarks by rival candidate Nasiruddin Patwari, Abbas said weaker candidates naturally target stronger contenders but stressed that any attempt to incite unrest in Dhaka-8 would be the responsibility of those behind it.

Abbas also expressed concern over rising tensions in the constituency, warning against provocative statements by some candidates aimed at disrupting law and order.

He urged voters to ignore such incitement and assured that party workers are vigilant and will not be drawn into any provocation.
