MP Gazi Nazrul's first wife granted bail

The court has granted bail to Maksuda Islam, first wife of Satkhira-4 constituency Member of Parliament Gazi Nazrul Islam, who was arrested in the case of abetment to suicide of his second wife Mariam. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Sefatullah granted her bail today Wednesday (September 30).

PP of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court Omar Faruq Faruqi has confirmed the matter.

Earlier, police recovered the hanging body of Gazi Nazrul’s second wife Mariam Khatun from flat number 203 on the third floor of building number 5 of the NAM Building under Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station of the capital on September 20. In this incident, father of the deceased Mariam Khatun, Md. Masum Billah, filed a case of abetment to suicide as the plaintiff at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station. MP Gazi Nazrul Islam, his first wife Maksuda Begum and maternal uncle of the second wife Obaidur Rahman were made accused in the case.
