Government Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni has said that efforts are underway to allocate houses to members of parliament by April 10.

He made the remarks after the second meeting of the Parliamentary Committee of the 13th National Parliament on Monday, March 30.

The Chief Whip said a meeting of the House Committee has been held. Various items including furniture need to be purchased. He assured that MPs would be able to move into their houses soon. Issues regarding drinking water have also been addressed, he added.

Regarding the sound system in parliament, Moni said it is still not functioning. He noted that before introducing a new system, the existing sound system must be made operational. He emphasised that issues like the 'pillow incident' or 'curtain incident' regarding the sound system should not recur.

He also mentioned that there was sabotage regarding the sound system on August 5. The Chief Whip expressed suspicion that someone deliberately sabotaged the system, as it was unprecedented for the Prime Minister to have to speak using a handheld microphone in the first session. The investigation committee is scheduled to submit its report on April 2.
