Mukto Asor, Amie Nazrul host Boishakh Mangal festival
Mukto Asor and Amie Nazrul organised Boishakh Mangal festival at Dhanmondi, Dhaka around 4:30pm on April 14.
The event featured discussions, along with musical and poetry performances.
Among the speakers were traveler and writer Mahua Rauf, and Abu Sayed, founder and president of Mukto Asor.
Mahua Rauf said, “In such a vibrant atmosphere, this is a truly wonderful arrangement.”
Abu Sayed said, “On the very first day of Boishakh, we have organised this Mangal festival. We wish for the well-being of the people of Bangladesh. Let the spirit of secularism prevail, let divisions among people fade away, and let harmony flow among all. Mukto Asor and Amie Nazrul uphold this consciousness and are working tirelessly to spread it. We aim to present the egalitarian ideals and spirit of Kazi Nazrul Islam to the next generation.”
Irene Sultana of Ami-i Nazrul at the event recited Nazrul’s poem “Kal Boishakhi,” while Yatunnisa Ruma, a member of Mukto Asor, recited “Amar Bari” by Jasimuddin.
The programme concluded with a collective rendition of the song “Esho Hey Boishakh Esho Esho.”
Ayesha Jahan Nupur, Joint General Secretary of Mukto Asor, hosted the event.
Shwapno 71, Kathbirali Prokashon, and the book-focused magazine Boicharita supported the event.
