Mustafa Monowar given guard of honour at Shaheed Minar

Ekushey Padak-winning artist and cultural personality Mustafa Monowar was given a state farewell on Tuesday, June 30. He was accorded a guard of honour at the Central Shaheed Minar after people from all walks of life paid their respects.

The guard of honour was given around 12:45 pm. His body was then taken to Dhaka University Central Mosque for the funeral. After final tributes at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Channel i premises, he was laid to rest at Banani Graveyard.

Earlier, his body was brought to Bangladesh Television at 9:00 am and then to the Central Shaheed Minar at 11:00 am, where a large number of artists, writers, cultural activists and students gathered to pay tribute.

Artists and cultural figures said Mustafa Monowar's passing is not just the loss of a person but the end of a golden chapter in Bangladesh's cultural arena.
