Nahid Islam earns Tk16 lakh annually from teaching, consulting

The National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam, contesting the 13th National Parliamentary Election from Dhaka-11, has disclosed his income, profession, and assets in his election affidavit.

According to the document, he earns a total of Tk 16 lakh per year from teaching and consultancy work.

In the affidavit, Nahid Islam lists his current profession as a consultant and notes his previous role as an adviser to the interim government. He holds a bachelor’s degree, while his wife, Fatimatuz Johra, is a homemaker.

Regarding movable assets, Nahid Islam declared cash holdings of Tk 19.5 lakh, while his wife has Tk 2 lakh. Bank deposits total Tk 3,85,363. He also owns gold jewelry worth approximately Tk 7.75 lakh, and his wife possesses gold jewelry valued at Tk 10 lakh. Electronic items are valued at Tk 1 lakh and furniture at Tk 1.7 lakh.

According to his income tax return, Nahid Islam’s total assets amount to Tk 32,16,122, with Tk 1,13,274 paid in income tax. The affidavit lists no immovable property, and all related sections are marked “not applicable.”

Under liabilities, it is mentioned that his wife Fatimatuz Johra has taken a loan of Tk 3.5 lakh from Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited, Rampura branch, as a dependent.
