The government has described the bomb explosion at the National Citizen Party's (NCP) rally venue in Savar as "deeply regrettable" and said it will conduct an impartial investigation. However, Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman termed NCP Convener and Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam's comments on the incident as a "political statement".

The adviser said the government's responsibility is to investigate the matter impartially and identify and arrest those involved. He expressed hope for more responsible remarks from Nahid Islam.

Addressing a press conference at the Information Department on Tuesday, July 7, Dr Zahed Ur Rahman said, "We condemn yesterday's incident. The government's primary task is to investigate and arrest those involved." Regarding Nahid Islam's response, the adviser said, "Political statements are common in politics, and he has made one. He has the right to say it. However, we expect more responsible comments from the leader of a political party who has played such a significant role."

Asked whether anyone had been arrested, the adviser said the government is investigating and making every effort to make arrests. He noted that less than 24 hours had passed since the incident, and legal processes take time. He assured that the government is taking the matter seriously and confirmed that action would be taken.

Earlier, Nahid Islam had blamed the administration for the blast, saying, "This bomb explosion has clearly been carried out with the administration's help. Why was the electricity cut off? Clearly, this bomb explosion was carried out here as part of a plan to kill us."
