The namaz-e-janaza of Jannatul Ferdous, a Jahangirnagar University teacher who died while on election duty, was held after Jumma prayers at the university mosque ground on Friday.

Following the prayer, her body was taken to the Fine Arts Department premises before being transported to her family’s village home in Pabna’s Sadar area for burial in the family graveyard.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Kamrul Ahsan expressed his condolences during the janaza, stating, “In the end, we all must depart. If we live with honesty, transparency, and accountability, our farewells will be peaceful and meaningful. I ask everyone to pray for her.”

When asked about the circumstances of her death, Dr. Ahsan advised journalists to consult the Election Commission, which is overseeing related matters. He also recommended increasing the number of security personnel on campus to ensure a safer environment.

The funeral was attended by university faculty, students, and family members of the deceased.
