Nasiruddin Patwary lied to gain sympathy: Mirza Abbas

BNP Standing Committee Member and Dhaka-8 candidate Mirza Abbas dismissed allegations by NCP chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary that he was attacked during a public outreach event, calling them “completely false” and aimed at gaining sympathy.

Speaking to reporters in his constituency on Tuesday (January 27), Abbas said Patwary’s claims were intended to win public favour and cheap popularity.

He emphasised that BNP supporters have never attacked rival candidates in past elections since 1991 and accused opponents of deliberately creating conflict to disrupt the polls.

Abbas also filed a counter-complaint against Patwary for violating election code by displaying oversized, colourful posters in the constituency.

The two are rivals in the upcoming 13th parliamentary elections for Dhaka–8.
