BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that nation is looking to party Chairman Tarique Rahman with hope and expectation in the current difficult situation. He made the remarks in an opening speech at an event held at a hotel in the capital's Banani on Saturday (January 10). The programme began at 11:15am with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a session where Tarique Rahman exchanged greetings with media representatives. Mirza Fakhrul said, “Tarique Rahman has returned from abroad at a critical time for the country. The nation is looking to him with hope and a new opportunity has arisen.” The event was attended by editors, journalists, and BNP leaders from across the country.

বিএনপির মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীর বলেছেন, দেশের কঠিন সময়ে জাতি বিএনপির চেয়ারম্যান তারেক রহমানের দিকে তাকিয়ে আছে। শনিবার (১০ জানুয়ারি) রাজধানীর বনানীর একটি হোটেলে এক অনুষ্ঠানে সূচনা বক্তব্যে তিনি এ কথা বলেন। বেলা সোয়া ১১টায় পবিত্র কোরআন তেলাওয়াতের মধ্যদিয়ে গণমাধ্যমের সাংবাদিকদের সঙ্গে তারেক রহমানের শুভেচ্ছা বিনিময় অনুষ্ঠান শুরু হয়। বিএনপি মহাসচিব বলেন, আজ দেশের কঠিন সময়ে তারেক রহমান বিদেশ থেকে ফিরেছেন। বুক ভরা আশা নিয়ে জাতি তার দিকে তাকিয়ে আছে। আর একটা সুযোগ সৃষ্টি হয়েছে। অনুষ্ঠানে দেশে বিভিন্ন গণমাধ্যমের সম্পাদক, সাংবাদিক এবং বিএনপির নেতৃবৃন্দ উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
