Nation will suffer if election is not held on time: Mirza Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir warned that the nation will face dire consequences if the national election is not held on schedule.
He said, “To meet the people’s expectations, unity is essential. The path forward lies only in a free and fair election.”
Mirza Fakhrul made these remarks on Friday (August 29) while speaking at the National Press Club during the launch of Syeda Fatema Salam’s book “Roktakto July” (Bloody July).
The BNP secretary general said, “Differences of opinion in politics will always remain, but today people are confused and increasingly anxious about the election. They want change, and we are determined to lead that change.”
He said, “Over the past 15 years, BNP leaders and activists, including Chairperson Khaleda Zia, have endured relentless repression. We must honor those sacrifices as we move forward.”
“BNP does not want Bangladesh to become a failed state. Our goal is to strengthen democracy so that it ensures the welfare of all people, not just a privileged few,” he added.
