National Eid-ul-Azha congregation to be held at 7:30am
The main Eid-ul-Azha congregation at the National Eidgah in Dhaka will be held at 7:30am, with President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expected to join the prayers.
The information was announced by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Mohammad Abdus Salam after inspecting preparations at the National Eidgah ground on Monday (May 25).
He said the venue has been prepared to accommodate nearly 35,000 worshippers at a time. To ensure smooth movement of devotees, four entry gates and seven exit gates will remain open during the congregation.
Authorities also said that if adverse weather conditions arise, the main Eid congregation will instead be held at 8:00am at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
Speaking about post-Eid management, the DSCC administrator said sacrificial animal waste will be removed within eight hours after slaughter activities begin.
He also urged city residents not to dump waste into drains and to place it in designated collection points to help maintain cleanliness across the capital during Eid.
Security, sanitation, and crowd management measures have already been strengthened around the National Eidgah ahead of one of the country’s largest religious gatherings.
