National Film Day observed today

The National Film Day is being observed today, Friday, April 3, with the theme 'Our film, our culture, our heritage'.

On this day in 1957, a proposal was tabled in the then Provincial Assembly to establish the Film Development Corporation (FDC). Since 2012, the day has been celebrated annually to commemorate that historic occasion.

The FDC premises have been decorated with colourful arrangements. The entire area has turned festive with the presence of artists, technicians and film industry personnel.

FDC authorities have planned day-long programmes, including formal inauguration at 10:00 am, a colourful procession with film workers at 10:30 am, a discussion meeting and cultural programme at 11:00 am, and a special film screening at 2:00 pm.

FDC Managing Director Masuma Tani said preparations have been made to the best of their ability despite time constraints. People from all levels of the film industry have been invited to the event.

She expressed hope that the day would be celebrated in a festive atmosphere with participation from all.
